What is kvpy ??

Kvpy  means Kishore vagyanik protsahan Yojana it is national level compititive exam conducted every year in India by department of science and technology . It is very popular exam , it has been conducting since year 1999.
Kvpy is a scholarship exam for students of 10+1,10+2 of science stream and 1st year Ug students of  physics, chemistry, mathematics biology, statistics.The main objective of kvpy is support students for pursing science as a career.
There are three kinds of exams conducted in kvpy  1.SA.     2. SX.   3.SB.

Eligibility for each kind of exam :

1. Candidates should be 10th passed .
2. There are three attempts for kvpy.
3. SA stream of exam is for 11th class students.
4. SX stream of exam is  for  12th class students.
5. SB stream of exam is for 1sy year UG students of pure science courses like physics , chemistry, mathematics, biology  ,statistics.
6 . Year Dropout students are not eligible for kvpy.
7.Correspondance or distance education students are not eligible for kvpy exam.
8.Atleast 75% marks for general category and 65% marks for sc/st/obc/pwd in marks 10th class.
9.Atleast 60% marks for general category and 50% marks for sc/st/obc/pwd in 12th class.

Syllabus

Syllabus is different for every exam under kvpy but mainly for SA stream : 10th and 10+1 syllable PCMB.
For SX/SB stream : 10th, 10+1std and 10+2 STD syllabus PCMB.

Exam pattern 

For kvpy SA 

Kvpy SA is divided into 2 parts
Part 1

Part 2
There are 20 questions of Physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology of 2 marks each .
Negative marking : -0.25 marksfor 1st part
                                  - 0.50 marks for 2nd part

For SX/SB stream

In SX/SB stream we can choose subjects for attempting in exam  among physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology .
In 1st part we will have to attempt only 3 section (60 out of 80 ) among PCMB and in 2nd part we will have to attemt only 2 section (20 out of 40)

Marking scheme 

1. 1 mark for every right answer in 1st part. 1 marks for every incorrect answer is - 0.25 marks .
2. 2 mark for every right answer in 2nd part and -0.50 marks for every wrong answer.

Features about kvpy exam

1. Total time available for exam 3 hours.
2. Language : Hindi / English.
3. Mode of examination: online.
4. Total questions has to attempt in SA stream are  80
5 . Total questions has to attempt in SX/SB stream are 100.
6. Question type : MCQ
7. Maximum marks in both SA , SX/SB is 100.
•After qualifing aptitude test students are required to give a interview .
Final result
Final score and ranking is decided by marks in aptitude test and interview .Marks composition is 75%in aptitude test and 15% of interview round.
