NET JRF Eligibility, syllabus, exam pattern,fees , important information and dates

UGC NET( National Eligibility Test) is national level exam conducted for selection of candidates for university level lectureship and for award of JRF (Junior Research Fellowship). Net exam is currently conducted by NTA(National Testing Agency).Net exam is conducted for more then 90 subjects. Net exam is divided into 2 parts : paper 1 ( General Aptitude test) , paper 2 (questions related to subjects).

Eligibility

1. Age limit : candidates should not be more than 30 year old  for unreserved candidates and 5 year relaxation for OBC/ST/SC/PWD and transgender candidates . 3 year relaxation is for LLM degree.
2. Master degree holder with minimum 55% marks  for unreserved candidates  and 50% marks for reserved candidates.
3.Master degree or any other equivalent degree /diploma from recognised University / institute . Foreign universities candidates are also eligible.
4. Candidates who are in their final year  are also eligible for this exam.

Features of NTA UGC NET exam

1. Mode of examination: online.
2. Language: Hindi / English.
3. It will be conducted twice a year.
4. Net exam is divided into 2 parts paper 1 and paper 2
5. Marking scheme :
For each correct answer +2 marks is awarded and there is no marks will be deducted for incorrect and unanswered questions.
6. Total time available for exam :3 hours
7. Questions are MCQ type.

Features about  paper 1

1. Main objective of this paper is to assess the teaching/research aptitude of candidate.
2. Basically exam of paper 1 is based on
Teaching aptitude, Research aptitude, Reading comprehension, Communication, Reading, Logical reasoning.

Features about paper 2

1. Main objective of this paper is to test knowledge of subjects of candidates.
2. It is completely based on subject realeted questions according to subjects selected by candidates.

•Fees for  exam

For general category :₹1000
For OBC category: ₹500
For  St/ SC/PWD/ transgender: ₹250

•Some important information

Main difference between NET and JRF is

If candidate is successful in crackng NET exam then he is officially abled for university level lectureship which means candidates can apply for job as assistant professor in any university of India .

Only top 6% candidates who crack NET JRF  exam are choosen for JRF scholarship  . The aim of JRF is to encourage the students for pursing higher studies like phd and m.phil by providing a good amount of money monthly . Amount of money  is around ₹ 25000 to ₹30000 monthly. Validity of JRF is about 2 years  JRF also get chance to work in research institute like IIT .

Age for JRF is atmost 28 year for general category and 33 year for SC/ST/ OBC/ PWD.

Exam will be conducted in two shifts :
9:30AM-12:30PM.  and 2:30PM - 5:30PM

•Important dates

1. Registration is begin on 1st of March and last date is 30th of March.
2. Admit card availablity: 15th of may
3. Net scheduled from 20 June to 28 june
4. Result : in month of July.
